Alberto García-Alix

20.00h LA AUSENCIA COMO ESTÍMULO
Gardens of Ateneu Minicipal
La ausencia como estímulo (Absence as a stimulus) is a creation by Alberto García-Alix, conceived in the form of a visual lecture, in which the author reflects on how absence, its existence and its vital stimulus, influence and are reflected in his work, serving as a common thread and catalyst in his photographs.
Intertwined with the text of his dissertation, García-Alix presents sixty-eight images, most of them unpublished and taken over the last fifteen years.
‘Absence is capable of encompassing a whole universe of emotions and meanings,’ says the photographer. ‘It speaks to us and triggers a feeling because it has a real and independent existence.’
Alberto García-Alix (León, 1956) is a photographer, audiovisual creator, writer and editor. He is the winner of Spain's National Photography Award and a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of France. He has exhibited at the Reina Sofía National Art Museum, Les Rencontres Internationales d'Arlès, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie and the Prado Museum, among others. His works can be found in art collections around the world, such as the German Deutshe Börse and the French National Contemporary Art Fund. He was the director and founder of the cult magazine El Canto de la Tripulación (1989-1997). Since 2011, he has been co-founder of the publishing house Cabeza de Chorlito

PACO GÓMEZ. THE STORYTELLING POWER OF THE ARCHIVE

18.00h
Talk by Paco Gómez
Ateneu Municipal Auditorium
Recovered images demand to be remembered. Lost and forgotten images demand to be told. Anyone who looks at an old photograph becomes a storyteller. Archives tremble silently, waiting for an opportunity to tell their story. A photographer is a snake charmer who fascinates and beguiles us with his story.
Paco Gómez will explain where his unique photographic projects come from, including Los Modlin, which arose from photographs found in the rubbish, and Wattebled o el rastro de las cosas, in which he begins an investigation following the author of some 20th-century glass plates bought at the Rastro flea market in Madrid.
LAURA C. VARELA. COMISURA BOOKJOCKEY

19.00h
Comisura Bookjockey
Ateneu Municipal Auditorium
In this bookjockey talk, Laura C. Vela, editor of Comisura, will mix books, images and words to paint a landscape where the margins become the centre. Through Comisura's publications and her experience as an editor, she will address publishing as a form of encounter and community and the different ways of navigating paper. The strange, the hybrid and the unclassifiable intertwine in a living narrative. Borders dissolve: books sound, images speak, words are seen.
Laura C. Vela is a writer, photographer and editor (in 2021 she co-founded the publishing house Comisura). She is always putting together images and words or looking for someone to chat with. She has published several photobooks, including Como la casa mía y treinta, and a book made up entirely of words, Seismil.
LOLA NIETO. PERFORMATIVE RECITAL

20.00h
Performative poetry recital
Garden of the Ateneu Municipal
Caracol is a quest in which the body and voice become receptacles for sounds and gestures that reveal the presence of other beings, ghostly, animalistic and monstrous, that also inhabit us. It is a way of exploring a broken and open identity, which draws on the strange, the perverse and the tender to offer another, decoded way of approaching the world.
Lola Nieto has published the poetry collections Alambres (Kriller71, 2014), Tuscumbia (Harpo, 2016), Vozánica (Harpo, 2018) and Caracol (RIL editores, 2021). Following a stay in Kyoto, she has published a hybrid essay entitled La isla desnuda (The Naked Island, La Caja Books, 2024).
SHAKE A LEG. DJ NIGHT

21.00h-22.00h
Gardens of the Ateneu Municipal
And to round off the day, there will be a food court with Lo Salat. Mercat & Catering and a DJ area with Shake a Leg.
Shake a Leg is a collective of DJs and vinyl collectors, formed by Davo Kan, DJ Brazo and Acme Funk. They like to play black music: Latin, soul, funk, Afro, Brazilian, gypsy, roots... respecting the original format.

PHOTOGRAPHIC ACTIVITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

11.30h. CHEMIGRAMS. PHOTOGRAPHY WITHOUT A CAMERA
Gardens of the Ateneu Municipal
Workshop offered by the El Gra Photography Group
This activity is aimed at children and aims to introduce them to the dark and closed world of the analogue photographic laboratory. Chemigraph is a technique that uses the photosensitive materials of traditional photography but does not require a dark room and can be done in broad daylight.
Chemigrams are images obtained on light-sensitive emulsions and produced by the action of the chemical agents used during the analogue photographic process (developer, stop bath and fixer).
This is a mixed technique that produces images by combining procedures and materials typical of painting and photography without the mediation of a camera.
The participating children will find themselves in the middle of an open-air photographic laboratory and will be amazed to discover the action of light on the silver nitrates in the sensitive paper as they make their own creations.

Far from dictating perfection, the workshop focuses on the concept of research with all that this implies in terms of openness, sketches, discovery...

Next, fun and stimulating practical exercises will guide you in your first steps in this territory.
The aim is to free yourself from the pressure of having to “take good photos” in order to seek out your relationship with the place, the landscape and its people with greater freedom.

DANCE WITH Uku’Pacha

21.00h
Gardens of the Ateneu Municipal
Field recordings from oblivion is a work that brings together the present of dance with the immensity of audiovisual media. A woman, a man and several televisions. A journey through oblivion and dreams, against a backdrop of uninhabited landscapes. An ode to the past lives of neglected territories, composed in the era of virtuality and climate emergency. We follow a couple who dream the same dream; a dream that merges with lost landscapes. An emotional journey that guides us through a fleeting encounter into the interior of two minds, with love and oblivion as a backdrop.
Uku'Pacha is a performing arts and new technologies company that fuses theatrical language with the digital universe. Its research explores the tensions between body and virtuality, the human and the technological, creating immersive experiences and contemporary narratives.
